ELN Integrations

Your bench records go straight to your lab notebook.

Labi exports every run as a standard .eln file. Push it directly to RSpace — or any ELN with an open API. No copy-paste, no reformatting.

RSpace

Set up RSpace in 3 steps.

1

Open Labi Settings

Tap the Settings tab in Labi, then select ‘ELN Integrations’. You’ll see the RSpace connection panel.

2

Enter your RSpace URL and API key

Your RSpace URL looks like https://yourlab.researchspace.com. Your API key is in RSpace under My Profile → API Key. Paste both into Labi.

3

Export any completed run

After closing a run, tap ‘Export’ and choose ‘Send to RSpace’. The run record appears in your RSpace notebook within seconds.

Common questions.

Does RSpace integration work with on-premise installations?

Yes. Labi connects to any RSpace instance — cloud or on-premise — using the standard RSpace REST API. You just need a valid URL and API key.

What is an .eln file?

The .eln format is an open standard for electronic lab notebook records (based on ZIP + JSON-LD). Any ELN that supports the open standard can import Labi records directly.

Which other ELNs does Labi support?

RSpace is the first tested integration. Any ELN with a REST API can be connected — we're adding Benchling, LabArchives, and SciNote next. If your ELN has an API, reach out and we'll prioritise it.

Where do I find my RSpace API key?

Log in to RSpace → click your name in the top right → My Profile → scroll to 'API Key' → click Generate (or copy if you already have one). It looks like a long alphanumeric string.

Is my API key stored securely?

Your API key is stored in your device's secure keychain (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). It never leaves your device or gets sent to Labi's servers — because Labi has no servers.

Can I use Labi without any ELN?

Absolutely. ELN export is optional. Most users run Labi standalone — execute protocols, log deviations, close runs with a summary — and export to .eln manually when needed.

Open API

Any ELN with an open API works.

Labi uses standard HTTP REST calls to push records. If your ELN has an API and supports bearer token auth, we can connect to it. The .eln file format is an open standard — import it directly into any compatible system.
